There are two ways to set up a VPN for XCIPTV. The one that works on every version of the app is the official WireGuard app on the same device, which covers every app while it runs. The other is an OpenVPN profile inside XCIPTV itself, for versions that offer a VPN option. This guide covers both and helps you pick.
Which way should I use?
XCIPTV has changed a lot between versions, and so have its menus. Some versions have offered a VPN option of their own; others do not. Because of that, we recommend WireGuard: it does not depend on the XCIPTV version at all.
- WireGuard. Works with any XCIPTV version, covers every app, no username and password needed.
- OpenVPN profile in XCIPTV. Only if your version shows a VPN option that takes an OpenVPN profile. The exact menu name differs by app version.
Way 1: WireGuard for the whole device
1Install WireGuard
On Android TV, Google TV and Android phones, install the official WireGuard app from Google Play. On a Fire TV device, follow the Fire TV Stick guide. On a box without Google Play, use Download APK File on wireguard.com/install.
2Get your tunnel
Sign in to your IPTV VPN account, open Subscriptions and open your VPN subscription. The Your VPN card holds your VPN username and password, an OpenVPN file (.ovpn) for each server location and a WireGuard setup for each device number.
Pick a free device number. On a phone, open WireGuard, tap the plus button and choose Scan from QR code, then scan the code shown on another screen. On a TV, press Download .conf in the TV's browser instead.
3Import the tunnel on a TV
In WireGuard, add a tunnel from a file. On a phone the button is Import from file or archive; on a TV screen the exact menu name differs by app version. Pick the .conf file.
4Switch it on, then open XCIPTV
Switch the tunnel on and allow the VPN connection when Android asks. Then open XCIPTV and load your playlist as usual. Your VPN for XCIPTV is running.
Way 2: an OpenVPN profile inside XCIPTV
If your XCIPTV version has a VPN option that imports an OpenVPN profile, you can use the .ovpn file from your account:
- In your account, press Download next to a server location on the device that runs XCIPTV, or Copy link and open the address in the device's browser.
- In XCIPTV, open its VPN option and import the .ovpn file. The exact menu name differs by app version.
- Enter the VPN username and password from the Your VPN card and connect.
If you cannot find a VPN option, your version does not have one. Use WireGuard instead.
Keep it running
- Turn on Restore on boot in the WireGuard settings, so the tunnel comes back after a restart.
- To cover only XCIPTV, edit the tunnel in WireGuard and use Include only for XCIPTV. Most people leave All Applications on.
- Start the VPN before you open XCIPTV.
Why a VPN for XCIPTV?
Your internet provider can see your traffic and may slow some of it down. A VPN for XCIPTV wraps your traffic in encryption, so your provider only sees encrypted data going to our server and your streams cannot be singled out. On shared or public Wi-Fi, it also keeps your logins encrypted.
A VPN cannot make your internet faster than your plan. Picture problems that come from a weak Wi-Fi signal stay until the signal improves.
If something does not work
- XCIPTV cannot load anything with the VPN on. Switch the tunnel off and on, then reopen XCIPTV.
- The OpenVPN login is refused. Copy the username and password again; they are case sensitive.
- The .conf file will not import. Download a fresh copy for the same device number.
- Nothing connects on one network. Some networks block VPN connections. See stealth mode.
The same steps work for other players. See VPN for TiviMate and VPN for OTT Navigator.
Plans and what they include
Every plan has the same features and differs only in length: 1 month for €5, 3 months for €14, 6 months for €25 or 12 months for €45. Prices as of October 2026, from €3.75 a month.
