The simplest VPN for TiviMate is the official WireGuard app on the same TV. TiviMate runs on Android TV devices, and WireGuard covers every app on the device while its tunnel is on, so TiviMate needs no VPN setting of its own. This guide shows the setup and a few habits that keep it running.
How it works
WireGuard creates an encrypted tunnel for the whole device. Your internet provider then sees encrypted traffic to our server, not which apps you use or what you watch. TiviMate keeps working exactly as before: it simply sends its traffic through the tunnel.
We do not rely on any setting inside TiviMate for this. If your version shows a VPN option, you can leave it alone.
1Install WireGuard on the TV
On Android TV and Google TV, install the official WireGuard app from Google Play. On a Fire TV device, follow our Fire TV Stick guide, because WireGuard is installed from a file there. On a box without Google Play, use Download APK File on wireguard.com/install.
2Download your tunnel file
Sign in to your IPTV VPN account, open Subscriptions and open your VPN subscription. The Your VPN card holds your VPN username and password, an OpenVPN file (.ovpn) for each server location and a WireGuard setup for each device number.
Open your account in the TV's browser, pick a free device number and press Download .conf. Each TV gets its own number.
3Import the tunnel
In WireGuard, add a tunnel from a file and pick the .conf file. On a phone the button is called Import from file or archive. On a TV screen the layout can differ, and the exact menu name differs by app version.
4Switch it on, then open TiviMate
Switch the tunnel on and allow the VPN connection when Android asks. Then open TiviMate. Your VPN for TiviMate is now running.
Keep it on after a restart
TVs restart more often than you think, after an update or a power cut. WireGuard for Android has a Restore on boot setting that brings up the tunnels that were on before. Turn it on in the app's settings so the VPN for TiviMate starts with the TV.
Many Android devices also have an always on VPN option in their own network settings. The exact menu name differs by device, so check your TV's settings if you want the device itself to insist on the VPN.
Only TiviMate, or everything?
By default the tunnel covers all apps. WireGuard for Android can also cover only some apps: when you edit a tunnel, its application setting offers Exclude and Include only. Pick Include only and choose TiviMate if you want the VPN for TiviMate alone, and every other app on the TV left outside the tunnel.
Most people leave it on All Applications. It is the simplest and covers the TV's browser too.
Tips for a smooth picture
- Start WireGuard before TiviMate, not the other way round.
- If TiviMate was open when you switched the tunnel on, close it and open it again.
- A wired network cable or a strong Wi-Fi signal helps more than anything else. A VPN cannot make your internet faster than your plan.
- If your provider slows down video it recognises, the encrypted tunnel can help, because your streams can no longer be singled out.
If something does not work
- TiviMate cannot load the playlist with the VPN on. Switch the tunnel off and on again, or download a fresh .conf file for the same device number.
- The tunnel will not switch on. Check that your plan is active in Subscriptions.
- Two TVs keep dropping. They probably share one device number. Give each its own.
- Nothing connects on one network. Some networks block VPN connections. See stealth mode.
For other apps on the same TV, the steps are the same. See VPN for XCIPTV and VPN for OTT Navigator.
Plans and what they include
Every plan has the same features and differs only in length: 1 month for €5, 3 months for €14, 6 months for €25 or 12 months for €45. Prices as of October 2026, from €3.75 a month. Each plan covers up to 3 devices at the same time and includes the OpenVPN profile for IPTV apps and WireGuard for TVs, phones and computers, plus stealth mode for networks that block VPN connections.
