Set up a VPN on a Fire TV Stick
There are two ways. Use the VPN inside IPTV Smarters Pro, or install the official WireGuard app so every app on the Fire TV is covered.
WireGuard on a Fire TV Stick
Step 1: Allow apps from outside the Appstore
Open Settings, then My Fire TV, then Developer Options, and turn on Apps from Unknown Sources. If you do not see Developer Options, open Settings, My Fire TV, About and click the entry with your Fire TV name seven times. The exact menu name differs by software version.
Step 2: Get a download app
Install a download app from the Amazon Appstore, such as Downloader, so the Fire TV can save a file from a web address.
Step 3: Install WireGuard
Open wireguard.com/install in the download app, choose Download APK File under Android, then open the file and install it.
Step 4: Download your tunnel file
In the browser on the Fire TV, sign in to your account, open Subscriptions and your VPN subscription. Pick a device number and press Download .conf.
Step 5: Import it and switch it on
In WireGuard, add a tunnel from a file and pick the .conf file. The exact menu name differs by app version. Switch the tunnel on and allow the VPN connection when the Fire TV asks.
The other way: inside IPTV Smarters Pro
If you watch in IPTV Smarters Pro, you can skip WireGuard and import your .ovpn file into the app instead. The VPN then covers that app.
Good to know
- Each Fire TV needs its own WireGuard device number. Do not reuse one number on two devices.
- Your plan covers up to 3 devices at the same time.
- Turn the WireGuard tunnel on before you open your IPTV app.
