To change your VPN server location, pick the location in your account and use its own setup: a new .ovpn file for IPTV Smarters Pro and OpenVPN Connect, or the WireGuard setup with that location chosen for the same device number. The steps below show each way.
Server location: Netherlands. Your account always lists every VPN server location you can use, and marks the one closest to you.
Why change your VPN server location
- A shorter path. The closer the server, the shorter the trip your traffic makes. That usually means a steadier picture.
- A server that does not suit your network. If one location runs poorly on your connection, another may run better.
- You moved. After a move, the closest location may be a different one.
You may never need to switch. The closest location is the right pick for everyday use.
One location, many servers
Each .ovpn file holds every server of its location. If one server is down or busy, the app moves to another one of the same location by itself. You do not have to change anything for that.
If your account shows only one VPN server location, there is nothing to switch: the file already moves between the servers of that location on its own.
1Open your VPN details
Sign in to your IPTV VPN account, open Subscriptions and open your VPN subscription. The Your VPN card holds your VPN username and password, an OpenVPN file (.ovpn) for each server location and a WireGuard setup for each device number.
2Pick the location
Look at the list of locations on the Your VPN card. The one marked Closest to you is the closest to where you are now.
3IPTV Smarters Pro or OpenVPN Connect: use the new file
Press Download next to the new location, on the device that runs the app. On a TV, press Copy link and open the address in the TV's browser. The link works for 14 days.
Then import the new file in the app. In IPTV Smarters Pro, add it as a new profile in its VPN section. The exact menu name differs by app version. In OpenVPN Connect, open the Menu, then My Profiles, tap the add icon and choose Upload File. Pick the new profile and connect with the same VPN username and password.
You can keep both profiles and pick one each time you connect.
4WireGuard: the same device number, a new location
When your account has more than one location, the WireGuard part of the card shows a location list next to the device numbers. Keep the device number of this device, choose the new location and scan the new QR code or press Download .conf.
Add the new tunnel in WireGuard. Then switch the old tunnel off before you switch the new one on. Only one tunnel should be on at a time. Our WireGuard guide shows the import on every device.
5Stealth mode: the link of that location
Each location has its own stealth link. Press Copy link next to the new location in the stealth part of the card and add it in your stealth app. See stealth mode.
Which location should I pick?
Pick the location closest to you. A longer path seldom helps a stream. If the closest one runs poorly on your network, try the next closest for an evening and compare.
After you switch
- Close and reopen your IPTV app once the VPN is on.
- If the picture is worse, switch back. Nothing is lost: the old setup still works.
- Keep one device number per device, whichever location you pick.
For streams that stall at night, read IPTV buffering in the evening. For the full IPTV Smarters Pro setup, see the IPTV Smarters Pro guide.
